Not really a history book but this is a great best-of book, with wonderful photos of Peter’s favourite places. Plenty of historical places are featured, such as Rosslyn Chapel and – tragically – Glasgow School of Art.

Very different from most history books. Books shelved as scottish-history: How the Scots Invented the Modern World by Arthur Herman, The Highland Clearances by John Prebble, Outlander by Diana. Neil Oliver's A History of Scotland is a well-researched, comprehensive, and engaging read.

It's a mean feat to condense several thousand of years into history into a page book, but Mr. Oliver does a good job of it.4/5.
